Blogging, podcasting, working, mothering
Thursday, March 30, 2006 Kristin and I have been extraordinarily busy the last few weeks. For those who read our blog, but don't listen to the podcast, you've probably noticed our blog has been suffering of late. We're not writing as often because we're busy planning our weekly podcasts. When we started Manic Mommies we thought it would be blog first, podcast second. But something strange has occurred of late. We started moving up the rankings on iTunes in the family podcasts category. First top 100. Then top 40. Two weeks ago we were #14! Kristin's recent obsession with podcasting (I call her the podcast stalker) has us channeling our energy into another medium. Podcasting is lots of fun and if you have an iPod you can take the Manic Mommies with you, wherever you go! If you like our blog posts and have not listened to our podcast, we hope you will. We record on Thursday nights after the kids go to bed. Wine is always involved and there are lots of laughs. Some people say we're really funny! Sometimes I crack myself up! You don't need iTunes to listen, but it is the easiest way. If you're one of those podcast virgins, don't let us pressure you. But you've got to embrace the new technology sooner or later. You won't regret it. If you like the Manic Mommies, please help us spread the word and tell a friend!

Your recent discussion on Happy Housewives was great. I applaud your decision to step outside the Mommy Wars.

And speaking of mommies, have you see the book entitled "Queen Bees and Kingpin Dads"? It's written by the same woman who wrote "Queen Bees & Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of Adolescence." Her new book talks about the type A mommies and mommy cliques, etc. Just thought you might find it good reading or fodder for conversation.

I have not checked out your podcast, but congrats on its success! I will definitely tune in this weekend during my "catch up" time.

Also, you all may be interested in this Opinion piece, "The Myth of the opt-out mom," which was published in today's Christian Science Monitor:
