I admit it. I’m a huge Apple geek. From my laptop to my iPod, I am an Apple user through and through. And I can’t stop! If my husband (or my budget) would allow it, I would own a Nano to match each of my outfits, use a Shuffle to pull back my hair, and be the first in line for the new Apple iPhone.
The Apple item I’m currently obsessed with don’t actually cost anything – a Manic Mommies Widget.
For those of you who are not Apple users, a Widget is a small file that can be added to the Dashboard of an OSX-driven computer. I have a few Widgets on my Dashboard. Some are simple - a dictionary, a calculator, an alarm clock, a translation tool – while some are more complicated – the latest headlines from MacWorld, the ski report from Stowe, Vermont, the current status of Second Life.
There are a ton of Widgets available for free – and I continue to poke around and try new ones. But the one Widget I want does not exist… I want a Manic Mommies Widget.
I imagine it would be a really pretty widget. Bright green with our Astermanikist (that’s the flower in our logo) displayed at the top. What would my Widget do? Well, of course it would play the latest shows, but it would also display the latest entries onto our blog. And it would have a button on the bottom for me to use to “forward to a friend.” Neat and simple.
The problem is, I don’t have the time or brain power to devote to such a project. I actually downloaded a “Widget” maker, but after discovering that Widgets rely pretty heavily on “Cascading Style Sheets” (which I loathe for no rationale reason other than that I don’t really understand them), I gave up.
So, until I can find a caring soul with a creative eye and technical heart, my dreams of a Manic Mommies Widget will have to remain a dream.
Anyone out there wanna' build me a Widget? I'll buy you a Manic Mommies coffee mug in exchange!
