The rain here has been ridiculous this week. I am so glad it wasn't my vacation week on the Cape. It's another questionable Friday, so what I'll end up doing with the boys today is anyone's guess. In the meantime, here are some fun finds for Friday:
I was contacted this week by the owner of the Web site MamaBargains.com. If you like to snag a good deal (and who doesn't), check this site out. There is one item offered at a time and every single item is at least 50% off retail. Sometimes it's 80% off! Customers drive their purchases. Tell them what you want and they'll "go to the Earth’s end to try to find it for you." Email alerts are available. This week they were offering the Micralite Carrycot for $80. Unfortunately, they're all gone today, but this looks like a site worth checking regualrly.

I went to a fun event earlier this week (you can read more about it on the Real Simple blog) and learned some interesting tips for saving money at the grocery store. Shopping the store labels instead of the national brands, can save you some serious cash. A consumer advisor for Stop & Shop told us that she shopped for the exact same meal—eggplant parmesean, garlic bread and salad—using store brands and again using national brands. The result? For one meal alone, she saved $8. Next time you are at the grocery store, try out some of the store brands. You might be surprised by the quality. We sampled a number of products from Stop & Shop including their Nature's Promise (affordable organics) and Simple Enjoy (gourmet) lines, and all were comparable if not better to national brands.

Two more weeks until my girlfriends and I make our annual escape (note the small e, not to be confused with Escape 08) to Martha's Vineyard and I can't wait! We usually do this trip in July but for some reason this year that didn't work out. Now I am dying to get my Vineyard fix. If you've never been the the Vineyard, you must put it on your Bucket List. It's one of the most beautiful places in New England.

This week's Manic Mommies podcast is one you won't want to miss (we recorded it yesterday). Our guest is Archivist Alison and she has some great advice about how to preserve what's important to you and get rid of what's not. This applies to school artwork, digital photos and so much more. Alison is a manic mommy herself, a professional archivist in Los Angeles and mom to a 14-month-old girl.
That's it for this Friday. Have a great weekend everyone!
